Teen Ministry

Youth Purpose & Mission Statement
The Youth Ministry’s purpose is to glorify God by coming along side of parents (the primary teachers of youth) and helping them train their children to “set their hope in God” (Ps.78:7) and to take the next step in their spiritual walk “by knowing Christ” (Phil. 3:10).  When children set their hope in God, God will be shown to be supreme in their lives… NOT relationships, peer aproval, sports, music, fashion, materialism, etc.

These goals for the youth ministry are accomplished by ministering to children and providing youth the opportunities to minister through several different facets:
                              Education,
                              Edification,
                              Evangelization, and
                              Entertainment.

Teen Youth Ministry Program

--
Teen Sunday School: 9:30 - 10:30 on Sunday Mornings.
As a young person enters the teen program at H. B. C. there are several goals that our ministry desires to accomplish within his/her life.  One area that we pray for and work on concerns each individual teens' spiritual life.  Our goal regarding this area of life is that each young person grows or takes the next step in their spiritual walk.  Therefore, a specific sequence within a Biblically based curriculum is being used to challenge the teens in specific areas of life, books of the Bible, or even methods for further Biblical study.  We encourage all teens to take part in this vital part of the teen program.

--
Afterglows: Once a month after the Sunday Morning service, the teens get together at one of their parent’s homes for lunch and fellowship.  There is also a time where the teens and Pastor & Mrs. Counterman are able to discuss issues that the teens are currently facing.  Almost all the topics that are discussed are issues that the teens themselves have chosen.  This time is designed to allow the teens to talk about the issue with each other, and to allow open discussion with guidance from Pastor and Mrs. Counterman to come to a Biblical conclusions of what the Bible says about the issues that face today's' teens.

--         Monthly Activities: Each month there is at least one activity (normally two) planned for the entire youth group usually on a Friday night or Saturday.     These  fun-filled activities like miniature golf, Wimp-o-lympics, Mall Scavenger Hunt and many others could be held at the church, somewhere around Flemington, etc. depending on the activity.  Each activity also includes a challenge from God's Word.

--
Camp: This year is the first year that our teens will be attending the fun, exciting, and more importantly spiritually challenging camp ministry at the Wilds Camp and Conference Center.  This year, from June 25th-30th, the teens will be down in the mountains of Taylors, SC.  We are praying and looking forward to seeing how God will work in the teens lives throughout that week.

--
Missions Trip: This year our youth group will be involved in a Mission Trip with the desired goal of helping a couple of our missionaries.  This may include helping our missionaries with Vacation Bible School, going out on visitation, running an entire service, or ministering in other ways.  We anticipate that this trip will give the teens a heart for missions and a willingness to consider missions in the future if God leads in their lives.
