God’s Simple Plan of Salvation

Suppose you were asked the question, “If you were to die today, do you know for certain that you would go to heaven?” how would you answer? Though no one may have ever asked you, this is the most important question you could ever be asked. Thankfully, the Bible teaches that you can answer with a confident “yes!”

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God. (I John 5:13)

Notice it reads, “know” and not “think,” “hope” or “wish.” So then, how can you know for sure? In the Bible, God has recorded the gospel message of salvation so that you can have full confidence that you are going to heaven. This is the same as knowing how to be saved or how to become born again.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.  (John 3:3)

His plan outlined in the Bible is very simple! Consider the following:

First, even though you may not consider yourself a really bad person, God says every person is a sinner. Thus, you need to realize and acknowledge that you are a sinner.

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: (Romans 3:10)

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

Second, because you are a sinner, you will experience death (physical, spiritual, eternal). The ultimate result of being a sinner is eternal separation from God in Hell.

For the wages of sin is death;… (Romans 6:23a)

…the rich man also died, and was buried; and in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments,… (Luke 16:22,23)

Third, God loves you. He does not want hell to be your final destination, so He provided the ultimate payment to pardon you from “the wages of sin.” He wants to forgive every sin you ever committed against Him so you will not be separated from Him!

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

Who [God] will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. (I Timothy 2:4)

Fourth, God sent Jesus Christ to die on the cross for you, to be your personal substitute who voluntarily sacrificed His life to pay your sin penalty.

For God so love the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

For He [God] made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (II Corinthians 5:21)

This is necessary because no sinner could remove or cleanse his/her own heart of sin. Also, no church, no minister, no good works can provide forgiveness of sin.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8,9)

God says that Jesus Christ is the one and only way of salvation.

Neither is their salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

Fifth, by admitting to God that you are a sinner and agreeing with God that Jesus died for you on the cross, you can be saved! God invites you to turn from your sin (repentance) and trust in Jesus Christ (acceptance) for eternal life.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (Romans 10:9)

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)

It all sounds so simple! God made it simple because He does not want any person to go to hell. He wants everyone, including you, to become saved.

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (II Peter 3:9)

Does God’s way of salvation make sense to you?  If not, read through it again, or contact us for more information. If you understand what God says and you want everlasting life, pray and receive His free gift of salvation. Right now, wherever you are, you can ask Him to forgive your sin and save your soul. Take God at His word and simply claim His salvation by faith:

“God, I know I am a sinner and I know that my sin separates me from you so that I cannot enter Your heaven. I believe Jesus Christ died on the cross as my substitute, paying the penalty of my sin. I now repent from my sin and receive Him as my personal Savior. Please, forgive my sins and give me the gift of salvation. In Jesus name. Amen.”

Choosing to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior is the most wonderful decision you could ever make. Now if you were asked the question, “If you died today, do you know for certain that you would go to heaven?” you can answer with a confident “yes!”

Also, being saved means that you are able to grow spiritually. As God has saved you, He will keep you saved, and help you to live a victorious Christian life. Three basic ways to begin to grow are:

            Pray (You talk to God.)

Read your Bible (God talks to you.)

           Witness (You talk for God.)
